Use the Buddy System

It is a good idea to stay with others if you choose to drink or try drugs. Use the buddy system and look out for each other - this way, harm can be avoided or reduced. It is important that your "buddy" is a genuine friend who cares about you and you can trust. Keep friends with you who are "designated" as not using alcohol or other drugs. If a friend is acting strangely or seems distressed, stick by him or her - the person may need your help more than you realize.
