Getting Help for Depression |
You can start to get the help you need by talking to your parent, family doctor or school guidance counsellor. He or she may refer you to a counsellor, social worker, psychologist or psychiatrist. These professionals are trained to help people sort out their feelings and solve personal problems.
Sometimes a medication can help, which can make you feel better, and break the cycle of unhappiness. Several types of medications have been found to be helpful. However, medication for depression may take a while to take effect, and it is important to follow the instructions given by your doctor and pharmacist.
Medication can help, but so can talking about your problems. Often, talking about your depression and having a medication take the edge off the pain is a great combination to increase the rate of recovery.
