Signs that someone needs emergency medical help

• They are throwing up a lot (they can choke on their vomit).
• They are passed out and you cannot wake them up.
• They have trouble breathing or are not breathing at all.
• They are injured.
• They have a convulsion (seizure).

Chances are, you will throw up if you drink a large quantity of alcohol, especially if you drink it fast. If someone is sick from drinking alcohol, you absolutely must not leave them alone. Before medical help arrives, roll the person onto their left side with their top leg extended in front and their cheek turned toward the ground (i.e., the recovery position). If you put a person in this position and they throw up, they are less likely to choke on their vomit.

Don't worry about getting into trouble if adults find out about the drinking. It will be a lot worse if something tragic happens to your friends. You need to act. Know how to call for help, even if there is not a 911 service.
